Decisions, Decisions, Decisions... JOY AVERY MELVILLE MIGHT GET A LAUGH OUT OF THIS ONE! My MacBook Pros battery is hitting its lifetime recharging maximum. Its an easy $150 fix installed. But that causes some thought.... Like upgrading Hard Drives from 7200 RPM to the new SSDs that run faster, are flash (no moving parts) and will burn less heat on the laptop. Think the 480 GIG drives run about $425.00. Preventative maintenance is what Im doing. So both for about $700 contrasted to a new MacBook Air for $1500. I know, a no brainer. But I sure wanted that AIR for 2014. The other decision is to go with a 3 or 4 TB HD for my desktop computer and retire 2 250 gig drives and 2 480 gig drives. Moving all to one and considering another at some point in time. Seems we all run out of drive space as time goes by. I like the Otherworld/MacSales for the drives. And though I can replace the battery and SSD myself Id rather use my Hardin Computer Service Department to do the work. My PowerBook from 1999 ran slower as we went from OS 9 to X and I did upgrade it lasting another 5 years for less than $500 in 2004. It lasted to 2009. A long time for hardware (and I love Mac/Apple). Love does not begin to say it. Just choices and how to stretch income to cover it. SSD flash drives seem to be the route to go. Maybe I should just upgrade the MBP. Well see what the costs come into and Ill make a decision in the next week or so.
