Deeds! Are you sure they dont matter? - Lets see what the word of God says about our deeds which is evidence of our salvation and love for the Lord. - It is our Lord Jesus Christ who brings salvation to those who will Love and obey Him. - Hebrews 5:9 And having been made perfect, He became to ALL THOSE WHO OBEY HIM the source of eternal salvation, - Acts 5:32 And we are witnesses of these things; and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given TO THOSE WHO OBEY HIM.” - Remember that if you dont have the Spirit then you dont belong to Christ ~ - Romans 8:9 However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But IF ANYONE DOES NOT HAVE THE SPIRIT OF CHRIST, he DOES NOT BELONG TO HIM. - Our works/deeds are evidence of our love of the Lord who we long to please , Even Jesus says that if we love Him we will keep His Word. In the scriptures below it shows that when they lost their first love they quit trying to please Him so the word of God speaks of doing the deeds they did at first when they loved Him, Those deeds showed their love for their Lord. And the lack of their deed’s showed their lack of love for their Lord, You are not saved if you don’t love the Lord!!!!!! you cannot separate Obedience from Love where it comes to the Lord and salvation - Hebrews 5:9 And having been made perfect, He became to ALL THOSE WHO OBEY HIM the source of eternal salvation, - Revelation 2:4-6 But I have this against you, that YOU HAVE LEFT YOUR FIRST LOVE. Therefore remember from where you have fallen, and REPENT AND DO THE DEEDS YOU DID AT FIRST; OR ELSE I AM COMING TO YOU AND WILL REMOVE YOUR LAMPSTAND OUT OF ITS PLACE—UNLESS YOU REPENT. Yet this you do have, that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. - Many of us have heard or been accused of focusing on a works-salvation verses salvation through grace alone. Constantly we are reminded that grace is a free gift through Faith: But Remember one thing that the Word of God says: - “FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD “ - James 2:14-26 What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food and one of you says to them, Go in peace, be warmed and be filled, and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that? Even so FAITH, if it has NO WORKS, IS DEAD, BEING BY ITSELF. But someone may well say, You have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, - and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that God is one You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder. But are you willing to recognize, you foolish fellow, that FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS USELESS? Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up Isaac his son on the altar? You see that faith was working with his works, and as a result of the works, faith was perfected; and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, AND ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS RECKONED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS, and he was called the friend of God. You see that A MAN IF JUSTIFIED BY WORKS and NOT BY FAITH ALONE. In the same way, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way? For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD. - Ephesians 2:8-10 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, CREATED IN CHRIST JESUS FOR GOOD WORKS, which God prepared beforehand SO THAT WE WOULD WALK IN THEM. - The question we have to ask ourselves is whether we can become born again, saved by the blood of Jesus Christ and not have saving faith manifest itself by deeds in obeying the Lord. Notice in the scriptures above it says For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them. - May i once again please draw your attention to the next two { often ignored } scriptures that show a clear connection between obedience and salvation. - Hebrews 5:9 And having been made perfect, He became to ALL THOSE WHO OBEY HIM the source of eternal salvation, - Acts 5:32 And we are witnesses of these things; and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given TO THOSE WHO OBEY HIM.” - OUR FAITH AND LOVE IN CHRIST WILL BRING GOOD FRUIT! - Romans 1:4-6 who was declared the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead, according to the Spirit of holiness, Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the OBEDIENCE OF FAITH among all the Gentiles for His names sake, among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ; - Did you notice in the scripture above that it says we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the OBEDIENCE OF FAITH”? {talking about the apostles who are our example} - 1 Corinthians 15:10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me did not prove vain; but I labored even more than all of them, yet not I, but the grace of God with me. - In the above scriptures it is clear that grace could be in vain? - 2 Corinthians 9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed; - Matthew 16:27 For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and WILL THEN REPAY EVERY MAN ACCORDING TO his DEEDS. - Now we have seen that deeds go with faith and we will judged by our deeds!! Both good and bad deeds. From the above scriptures we see that our deeds have something to do with salvation; but always together with Love, faith and grace. All of which is a result of what our Lord did for us at the Cross - We prove our faith by our deeds. Jesus says: If we love Him we will keep His Word and those who dont keep His word dont love Him. - John 14:23-24 Jesus answered and said to him, IF ANYONE LOVES ME, he WILL KEEP MY WORD; AND MY FATHER WILL LOVE HIM, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him. ”He WHO DOES NOT LOVE ME DOES NOT KEEP MY WORDS; and the word which you hear is not Mine, but the Fathers who sent Me - John 15:8 My Father is glorified by this, that you BEAR MUCH FRUIT, AND SO PROVE TO BE MY DISCIPLES. - Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. - James 1:22 But prove yourselves DOERS OF THE WORD, and NOT merely HEARERS WHO DELUDE THEMSELVES. - Acts 26:20 but kept declaring both to those of Damascus first, and also at Jerusalem and then throughout all the region of Judea, and even to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, PERFORMING DEEDS APPROPRIATE TO REPENTANCE. - The above scriptures show its important to repent and turn to God, performing deeds appropriate to repentance. - We are saved by grace but we will be judged according to our deeds! - John 3:19 This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, FOR THEIR DEEDS WERE EVIL. - John 3:20 For EVERYONE WHO DOES EVIL HATES THE LIGHT, and does not come to the Light FOR FEAR THAT his DEEDS WILL BE EXPOSED. - John 8:39 They answered and said to Him, Abraham is our father Jesus said to them, If you are Abrahams children, DO THE DEEDS OF ABRAHAM. - Romans 2:4-11 Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance? But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, who WILL RENDER TO EACH PERSON ACCORDING TO HIS DEEDS: to those who by perseverance in doing good seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life; but to those who are selfishly ambitious and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, wrath and indignation. There will be tribulation and distress for every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek, but glory and honor and peace to everyone who does good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For there is no partiality with God. - The above scriptures are very clear about our deeds!! - 2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that EACH ONE MAY BE RECOMPENSED FOR his DEEDS IN THE BODY, ACCORDING TO WHAT he HAS DONE, whether GOOD OR BAD. - 2 Corinthians 11:15 Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, WHOSE END WILL BE ACCORDING TO THEIR DEEDS. - 2 Timothy 4:14 Alexander the coppersmith did me much harm; the Lord will REPAY him ACCORDING TO his DEEDS - 1 Peter1:14-17 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance, but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written, YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY. If you (address as Father the One who impartially JUDGES ACCORDING TO EACH ONE’S WORK, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay on earth; - Titus 1:16 They profess to know God, but BY THEIR DEEDS THEY DENY HIM. being detestable and disobedient and WORTHLESS FOR ANY GOOD DEED. - Titus 2:7 in all things show yourself to be AN EXAMPLE OF GOOD DEEDS,. with PURITY IN DOCTRINE, dignified, - Titus 2:14 who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to PURIFY FOR HIMSELF A PEOPLE for HIS OWN POSSESSION, ZEALOUS FOR GOOD DEEDS.. - Revelation 2:19-20 I know your deeds, and your love and faith and service and perseverance, and that your deeds of late are greater than at first. But I have this against you, that you tolerate the woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, and she teaches and leads My bond-servants astray so that they commit acts of immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols. - In the above scripture we see that Its dangerous to tolerate false teachers as most do today, But many say its ok to tolerate them because they come in the name of Jesus!! They seem to forget that many will come in the name of the Lord, But they are not His. - Matthew 7:22-23 Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’ - The Lord will give to each one of us according to our deeds ~ Count the cost, Your eternal destiny depends on it.... - Revelation 2:23 And I will kill her children with pestilence, and all the churches will know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts; AND I WILL GIVE TO EACH ONE OF YOU ACCORDING TO YOUR DEEDS.. - Revelation 2:26 He who overcomes, and he WHO KEEPS MY DEEDS UNTIL THE END, .TO HIM I WILL GIVE AUTHORITY OVER THE NATIONS; - Revelation 3:1-3 To the angel of the church in Sardis write: He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars, says this: I know your deeds, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead. Wake up, and strengthen the things that remain, which were about to die; for I HAVE NOT FOUND YOUR DEEDS COMPLETED IN THE SIGHT OF MY GOD. So remember what you have received and heard; and keep it, and repent Therefore if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come to you. - Revelation 3:15-16 I KNOW your DEEDS, that you are NEITHER HOT NOR COLD; I wish that you were cold or hot. So BECAUSE YOU ARE LUKEWARM, and neither hot nor cold, I WILL SPIT YOU OUT OF MY MOUTH. - Revelation 14:13 And I heard a voice from heaven, saying, Write, Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on! Yes, says the Spirit, so that they may rest from their labors, for THEIR DEEDS FOLLOW WITH THEM.” - Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and THE dead WERE JUDGED FROM THE THINGS WHICH WERE WRITTEN IN THE BOOKS, ACCORDING TO THEIR DEEDS.. - ( People dont want to be held accountable for their actions, but they will) - Revelation 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and THEY WERE JUDGED, EVERY ONE OF THEM ACCORDING TO THEIR DEEDS.. - Remember one thing: Your deeds must come from loving God or they are useless. The deeds we are talking about are deeds motivated by your love for the Lord and your obedience to His Commandments. - John 14:15 IF you LOVE ME, you WILL KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS. - John 15:10 IF you KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS, you WILL ABIDE IN MY LOVE; just as I have kept My Fathers commandments and abide in His love. - John 3:36 He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he WHO DOES NOT OBEY THE SON WILL NOT SEE LIFE, BUT THE WRATH OF GOD ABIDES ON him. - Hebrews 5:8-9 Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered. And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation, - The most important thing to remember is the following ~ _ Mark 12:29-31 Jesus answered, The foremost is, HEAR, O ISRAEL! THE LORD OUR GOD IS ONE LORD; AND YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.The second is this, YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF. THERE IS NOT COMMANDMENT GREATER THAN THESE. _ Something to think about ~ Matthew 25:41-46 “Then He will also say to those on His left, ‘Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels; for I was hungry, and you gave Me nothing to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me nothing to drink; I was a stranger, and you did not invite Me in; naked, and you did not clothe Me; sick, and in prison, and you did not visit Me.’ Then they themselves also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not take care of You?’ Then He will answer them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
