Well when your children go to school you want them to enjoy themselves and you as a parent want to feel confident that they are going to get a good education, ours certainly got this from Doug. When Glenn started at Borstal Manor I volunteered to go in and help and Doug accepted this offer even though he didnt know me. (Glenn at this point was in another class) It was Doug who gave me the confidence to become a TA, a job that still gives me pleasure and satisfaction. I loved being in his classroom when he was teaching history as his knowledge and enthusiasm for this subject always seemed to engage the children, together the children created a fantastic collage of the Death Mask of Tutahnkhamun which hung on the wall on the staircase outside his classroom for a long time. He had the right balance of fairness and firmness and I appreciate the life lessons he taught both of my children. I had the privilege of knowing him as a teacher and a friend and have shared some great social evenings with him and his wife Irene. As the saying goes The Good Always Die Young. You have been taken from this world far too early and will leave a void in many hearts for a long time but you are suffering no more and I hope you can rest in peace.
