Delivering Love To Flood Victims In Jarkarta, Indonesia During January 2014, floods covered 17.7 percent of Jakarta Province in Indonesia, with water levels up to five meters in places. Some 10,000 homes were flooded with 64,000 individuals displaced, an estimated 134,662 people in 100 urban villages directly affected, and at least 12 lives lost. Following Supreme Master Ching Hai’s loving request to help the disaster victims, with funding available for reimbursement, a relief team from our Jakarta Center quickly coordinated with Red Cross Indonesia to determine which areas needed the most help. On January 22, our team purchased two truckloads of relief items including 1,000 blankets, vegan baby food, snacks and prepared meals with US$4,640 (INR 56,355,850) in contributions from our Association members. The team then set out with the help of Red Cross Indonesia to deliver the items across the province to the most severely affected areas, helping approximately 3,000 families.
