Democracy offers opportunity to majority who are mainly the uninformed illiterate members of the society to carry the day. Due to their low estate, this majority is more often than not wrong. Yes, they are not capable of sound judgement being bereft of quality information. As a result, they vote in the wrong person. You know some people are popular but contain no depth. Call them empty cymbals; the shallow brooks that make the most noise. During the last general elections, some of these characters, these con-artistes proved to be soap-box stars. They are blessed with oratorical powers with which they conned the people to believe in them. The hoodwinked populace trooped to the poll and elected the con-artistes into various offices. Those with superior information who warned them were labelled enemies of the people. But right now, the scales have fallen off their eyes. Had we known has set in. Should we allow the majority to carry the day again? Yes, democracy promotes one man, one vote, but should we allow this unlettered majority determine who rules us? Since we don’t want rigging to continue, it is high time we began to educate the foolish majority so that they won’t repeat same costly mistake in 2015. Let us examine candidates well before voting for them this time. Some come out posing as tireless philanthropists but we do not know that they are heavily indebted to banks. Once they are voted in, they use allocations of their people as collaterals to obtain loans with which they repay their own personal loans! The electorate nationwide are being called upon to be wise. Once beaten, they say, twice shy.
