Democrats harp on about the teapartiers, liberal media harps about them, and moderate Republicans are intimidated by them, although they wont admit it. The shutdown wasnt the teapartiers fault, it was the fault of the moderate Republicans. Democrats knew that the moderate Republicans would cave in with the help of mainstream media pressing stories in their favor. If the Democrats knew that the party was united, they would have to compromise. If not, the shutdown would continue, and eventual it would be obvious that a lot of the damage from the shutdown was unnecessarily punitive, and done purely for political reasons. Secondly, it would be clear that one side tried to compromise and the other side made no attempt to do so what-so-ever. If it wasnt for the fact that teapartiers are seen as a threat, the others wouldnt spend so much time castigating them. The old guard establishment Republicans are a dying breed. Get your priorities straight or go over to the other side and you wont need to cross the aisle!
