Denham at the 09/24/2014 Modesto Bee Forum: Mr. Slick speaks on why he voted to continue the Government Shutdown, and why we need to destroy Social Security and Medicare. 24:32: Well I think youre misinterpreting what actually happened. Uh, there was a vote in Congress, uh I took the same position that, uh President Obama, then Senator Obama, uh took when he was in office. A continuous [sic] resolution without a plan is no plan at all. Uh, this President, uh campaigned and said, eight trillion dollars, the entire amount of debt assumed by every other President was unpatriotic. Now were eighteen trillion? America needs to wake up and understand that this is a huge issue. Now, I voted for some of these, uh continuous [sic] resolutions and these appropriation bills, um I think that it is important that we continue to, to, uh, uh keep government moving, but both parties need to come up with a plan. Itn, you know, both parties can agree that Social Security is going bankrupt, that Medicare is already there, then both parties need to agree that it is time to come together on a full solution working with the President on what that solution is. Uh, Im just looking for a plan, and, uh, was looking for the President and his leadership to come up with one at that time, uh, were still, uh, were still pushing to-, that on the, uh House side of things, and Im hopeful that the 365 bills that we have in the Senate today, most of which are bipartisan bills, um will actually move, uh right after the election and, and get some of his [?] jobs, uh created that will help us reduce that debt as well. https://youtube/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Yu4YWUZnKJk Theres some deception here. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Reposted, so you can compare what he said a year ago, more deception: Government Shutdown & Jeff Denham Eleven months ago Congressman Jeff Denham voted to continue the government shutdown. This is his explanation from his weekly email newsletter: October 18, 2013 Dear Friend, On Wednesday the House voted to raise the debt ceiling through February 7, 2014. The bill did nothing to change our out-of-control spending and gave a blank check to the U.S. Treasury to spend without restraint. My priority is finding a long-term plan to end our out-of-control spending, which has left each man, woman and child in our country on the hook for over $50,000 of debt as we reach our $17 trillion debt limit. The American people deserve long-term solutions to stop the spending, stop running up the debt and give real certainty to families across the country and the financial markets so we can get back on a path to economic success and job growth. The bill we voted on Wednesday failed to offset any spending, and for these reasons, I could not support it. The President said he’s willing to negotiate on our long term spending issues and I hope to see his ideas soon that will address the nation’s long-term fiscal problems. United States federal government shutdown of 2013 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_federal_government_shutdown_of_2013 If he wants a balanced budget, my budget balances now, produces a surplus now, and funds Medicare for all, see mjbarkl/usbudget.pdf , page down for most recent year. See, Mr. Denham? It is possible to balance the budget without shutting down the government and hurting millions of innocent people. And by the way, the out-of-control spending and running up the debt is George W. Bushs idea (and apparently yours), not President Obamas. --mike FYI the Facebook share button is a little tricky. When you hit share on a link, it shares the link, not the comments with it. To include the comments, highlight and copy that comment text and put it in your own comment box that comes up when you hit the share button. Hope this helps. --mike
