Denny Cormier: I stand with human rights activist, Robert Martin, - TopicsExpress

Denny Cormier: I stand with human rights activist, Robert Martin, in his support of the Palestinian people. In this recent heart-based statement of his position and of his determination (which I share), he put into words a philosophy that I have embraced in my own life during this last year - It is human beings responsibility to help those who need help. Like Robert and thousands of others world wide, I dont need thanks (although I am grateful for that support) - what we need is your voice, your words, your bodies at the borders and barricades, your footprints in the halls of government, your collaboration in whatever channels of communication that are available to us, your decisive actions when it comes to boycott, your reaching out in friendship to Palestinians wherever they live (we cannot support them if we do not know them). In 2014 there was growing international support during the Year of the Palestinian - but it was not enough. Gaza and the West Bank experienced some of the worst attacks on their people in recent history - recalling the worst days of the Nakba. War crimes and egregious violations of human rights became the norm. We sat in horror as those war crimes and violations unfolded during a year when we had called for the Year of the Palestinian. 2014 has ended with a great superpower once again using its vote and its powerful and misdirected reach to stamp out a call for Palestinian recognition. On the eve of the start of 2015 I believe that it is time to make a call to Palestinian supporters worldwide to join a Year of Decisive Action and Resistance in Support of Human Rights in Palestine. I cannot make decisions for you about what that means in your personal commitment (and probable sacrifices), but I am prepared to lose my freedom and what little I have to end the siege and blockade of Gaza - and to help alleviate the suffering that the actions of Israel and my country have brought to a people who I embrace and who I have come to love. Please join me and Robert Martin in 2015. And well stand together in support of the Palestinians. As Benjamin Netanyahu put it so horrifically in 2014, unleashing months of terror aimed at the Palestinians, it is Time to Take The Gloves Off. It is time to unleash a Year of Decisive Action and Resistance. As I end 2014 with memories of horrific days that I witnessed first hand, I begin 2015 with a determination to help end what has become impossible to tolerate I took the blinders off in 2014. I will take the gloves off in 2015. Please join me.
