Depending on prayer during times of change. I am currently in the process of applying to graduate school for admission in the Fall. Having graduated from college 10 years ago, this has proven to be somewhat of a daunting process. Trying to think in analytic terms and write critically has not always come easily over the past few months. There have been several occasions when I have been tempted to throw in the towel but I have learned through faith in Christ, recovery and crossfit that perseverance happens one day at a time. Results are a culmination of doing the footwork, the little steps that eventually add up to great achievement. If I can approach this process somewhat like a chipper and just keep moving through, regardless of how intimidating the task may appear, I have noticed that I am actually capable of much more than I had envisioned upon the outset. None of this however would be possible for me without faith. Faith in Jesus to direct my course has been essential to this process. As I experience anxiety, doubt and frustration, I am reminded by the Holy Spirit that none of these feelings are from The Lord. Time spent in prayer, at church and in fellowship with other believers has helped not only to strengthen and encourage me, but has also solidified that this is truly what I feel called to do and it is in persevering that we win the race. -Shannon R. Philippians 3:7-16 But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ--the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith. I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead. Pressing on Toward the Goal Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. All of us who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you. Only let us live up to what we have already attained.
