Depending on their particular mix, each Pitbull that Ive ever met and/or rescued seems to fall into 4 main personality types: a) high-energy, active & playful - loves toys, bones, chasing balls, swimming, running, etc (kind of like a cross between a Jack Russell Terrier & a lab) b) highly affectionate - the lickers and cuddlers c) mellow & loving - the non-lickers, lower energy but still fun, they are just happy to be around you and chill d) the caretakers - they make sure some part of their body is always touching you like their paw or their side and they are very connected to the welfare of other dogs and of people - these are the type that seem to be well-suited as therapy or rescue dogs e) a mixture of all of the above!! Oh and every Pitbull Ive ever met all have one thing in common: regardless of their size, they all think theyre little lap dogs! (Even the 90lb. ones!) Of course, if a dog - regardless of breed - is neglected, left outside away from his/her family, never interacted with, or abused, then you arent seeing their true personality because they are either in survival mode or they are shut down. The good news is if they are rescued into a loving family, as they begin to trust again, you will see their beautiful and fun personalities (and enormous gratitude) surface and itll make you incredibly happy that your paths crossed and make you realize that YOU were the lucky one in having rescued them. :-)
