Depressions lethal weapon is the thought: they are better off - TopicsExpress

Depressions lethal weapon is the thought: they are better off without me. Guilt and shame combine to make unbearable suffering. For the depressed person, that thought rings so true and so loud, that it drowns everything else. If someone you love is depressed, dont let this thought take them away from you. normalizing the desire to end ones life may be counter intuitive, but its the only way to prevent the painful thoughts from becoming the irreversible horror that is suicide. Calling the Crisisline saves lives. 1-800-273-TALK (8255) But a depressed person is not likely to call this number on their own. As a former Crisisline volunteer I want you to know that one of the best ways to help a suicidal friend is calling the number yourself. Call and talk to a counselor about how hard and scary it is for you, and ask for ideas about how to talk about suicide with your depressed loved one. And if you end up helping your friend to talk with the volunteer counselor themselves, thats wonderful, but that doesnt need to be the goal of the call. The Crisisline is free and confidential. this means they dont ask for names or locations. There is so much to gain and nothing to loose. 1-800-273-TALK (8255) I lost my birth mother to suicide. and it almost got me too. I speak from experience. I have given this a lot of thought and I have a lot to say about this: mamascomfortcamp/sharing-story-world-suicide-prevention-day-2013/ Rest in peace Robin. You were loved.
