‘Deputies Making a Change’ program to explore film with R-Squared Productions Tuesday MONROE, LA, APRIL 14, 2014 – This Tuesday, April 15 at 3:30 p.m., the Ouachita Parish Deputies Making a Change (DMAC) program’s youth participants will visit the Monroe office of R-Squared Productions to learn about the film industry from Executive Producer Rodney Ray. This will mark the second year the program has made such a visit. During the visit, the youth will learn about visual effects, coloring video, and the layers of audio that are involved in every scene of a film. They will also see a documentary featuring interviews with inmates at the Ouachita Parish Correctional Center. In the documentary, inmates discuss their upbringing and lack of positive role models in their lives. “We fully recognize the value of mentorship in our community. When kids are in need of leadership, these deputies are stepping up and providing that leadership, and we’re very proud to call them friends.” – Rodney Ray, Executive Producer of R-Squared Productions “The DMAC Program builds self confidence and leadership skills for at risk students age 9-13 by exposing them to successful men and women in our community and providing them with opportunities they might not otherwise have. These students have improved their grades and show a greater respect for themselves and others. It is my hope these students will see their own potential and avoid the activities that lead to incarceration.” – Ouachita Parish Sheriff Jay Russell Ouachita Parish Police Juror Dr. Ollibeth Reddix is expected to attend the workshop and all community leaders are welcome to attend. Similar workshops and tours are available free of charge to groups throughout the community. For more information, community leaders and interested groups should contact Greg Ziecker – [email protected].
