Derek was referred by SSAFA asking for help to fund a wetroom. Derek has osteoarthritis in his lower spine, knees and hips; he has just had a second hip replacement. He walks with the aid of a stick but finds walking painful. He has limited leg movement, finding it difficult to stand up and sit down. He cannot use the bath and for years has been having a strip wash. A walk in shower and taller toilet had been recommended. There was a shortfall and with a grant of £1,857 from the Fund and funding from SSAFA, Derek now has his wetroom.
