When people leave the world, they teach us many things.. But when dogs leave the world they leave a space in our heart that nobody can ever fill..!! It was more than 2 months ago, our volunteer Swati found an abandoned female great dane in Mukka. The word abondoned is used here for the condition the big girl was in.Totally reduced to bones and skin, too many injuries on the legs, ears with maggots. Swati somehow managed to get d big girl all the way to the shelter by managing a car by herself and friends help. Treatment was started at the shelter immediately and she was also named Sheeba.Days passed and d big girl recovered real nice. Sheeba probably is one of the unfortunate dogs who are used by people to guard their houses when they are young and once they are not able to reproduce they are thrown out since the owners cant sell the pups and make money. Personally speaking, Sheeba is the biggest dog I ever came across but more than that one of the most friendliest ones too.Great Danes usually live up to 7 to 10 yrs on average and this big girl fitted somewhere in that bracket easily. The moment you go and touch her she would come close to you making sure there is that touch between your body and hers.Maybe she felt protected.. The most gracious, wise and understanding nature I have ever come across in my life. The only time she would get hyper and jump like a little puppy was when somebody used to take goodies for her. That innocence of her eyes could never be forgotten.Had heard of gentle giants but this girl was a living proof for that. Couple of days back Sheeba fell sick with high fever and nasal discharge and stopped eating.Drips were being regularly administered with anti biotics but after fighting for 2 days her body gave up this noon..she passed away.. Yesterday was the last time I could meet d beautiful girl.Moaning out of pain and difficulty, praying to the Almighty to probably relive her..and he did it. A big thanks to ACT, Dr.Lakshmi, our hardworking staff, the kindhearted person who had sponsored Sheeba on basis of anonymity, and all our volunteers for loving and caring for her when she needed the most in her life. You will be missed wherever you are Sheeba. You have left many people with tears and shock..We all love you..its just thatvthe words fail us now in utter disbelief and shock..Rest in peace and be free in d garden of the almighty sweetheart..you are free!!!
