Despite the implementation of a ceasefire in the provincial capital of Al-#Hasakah, clashes between #Syrian #Government backed “National Defense Forces” (#NDF) and the predominately #Kurdish “#People’s #Protection #Units” (#YPG) broke-out again on Sunday morning, resulting in the death of a number of fighters from both sides and the exchange of mortar shells at Tal Hajjar and the Al-‘Azeeziyyeh. With the situation remaining incredibly tense in Al-Hasakah, the violent clashes were renewed in the Al-‘Azeeziyyeh Quarter; however, this time it was the NDF going on the offensive, capturing the ‘Ismaa’eel Grammar School as a result of the aggression. The NDF was also able to secure the Al-Ba’ath Municipal Building before the firefights subsided in the early evening. Firefights were also reported on the border of Tal Hajjar, Al-Salaahiyyeh, and Al-Naasarat, where the NDF also made progress before another ceasefire was announced between both groups. The ceasefire required all civilians to remain inside their homes, until stability is restored in the provincial capital and both sides completely end all violence. #Syria24 M.D.
