Destination of the Week: Chicago-Indiana Suburbs, IN-LaPorte County Historical Society Museum in LaPorte Located south of downtown LaPorte (not walkable), the LaPorte County Historical Society Museum makes a great first impression. Unfortunately some of the displays are a little amateurish. The first floor is mostly artifacts while the second floor contains the auto collection. The ground floor contains a sizable gun collection, farm implements, and lecture area. For the small admission fee it is worth the time to learn about how this part of Indiana has changed over the last 150 years.
