Details for “My Great Adventure in Rome Tour!” Friends, please allow me a moment before I give details for those that might not know me or might want to share this post with their friends. I am an author/speaker, nominated for a Pulitzer Prize by Random House, who has lived in Rome every spring and autumn for over twelve years now. I speak Italian and know this wondrous culture well. The Romans are among the most loving, playful, and fascinating people on this sweet Earth. I simply adore them! A major driving force behind me offering this tour to Rome comes from my passion and love of Rome, my burning desire to share it with others. (My wife works for an elite five star global tour company and I have learned a lot from her the past 23 years.) This might be the ONLY time I offer this opportunity so consider it carefully, if you have ever dreamed of going to Italy! The tour I am offering is limited to 7 people. Yes, you will have FREE time to do things on your own and not obligated to always be part of the group. Yet, I will always “be there” for you, if you need help in any way. Right now Americans are very lucky because the Euro has dipped to a 11 year low, $1.12 at the moment. That’s a huge savings over even three months ago, when I was last in Rome. Then it was around $1.40. The tour will start May 19 and end May 25, the day your depart Rome. You will stay at Rippa Hotel in the heart of Trastevere, my neighborhood. I have stayed twice in this beautiful 4 star hotel. All rooms have balconies and a wonderful breakfast is included. At the moment for the days noted above the rooms are priced between $155 and $180, depending on whether you book through the Rippa Hotel site or through Expedia or other such booking sites. You will book your own stay at the hotel and, yes, it’s where you need to stay. It’s the best bang for the buck! (My wife’s tours stay in 5 star hotels and their rooms run around 500-700 dollars per night.) Six nights at Rippa Hotel will cost your around $1,000. You will book your own flight to Rome and that will be between $800 and $1,500. Got miles? Consider using them and pay little or nothing for your flight! When you arrive at the Rome airport (FCO), you will take a taxi to the Rippa Hotel that is 30-45 minutes away. The taxis have a set price and most of the drivers are honest and very friendly. The taxi ride will cost you around 50 Euro, about 60 bucks at the current exchange rate. Now here is what is included in the tour at a fee of 700 dollars per person. Tuesday night, day of your arrival in Rome, we will have dinner at Restaurant Cosimato, just a 5 minute walk from the Rippa Hotel. This could be a LONG dinner, friends, as we get to know each other, savor the food and wine, and discuss the tour before us. Here I will give you maps of Rome and a detailed schedule of the tour. The next morning, I will introduce you to the neighborhood so you’ll know the grocery stores, the pharmacy, beauty salon, gym, the police station, (Don’t worry, Rome is VERY safe!) outdoor fruit, vegetable, and flower markets. You’ll learn where dozens of cafes and restaurants are located and you’ll meet dozens of the locals I have gotten to know so well over the years. Yes, ladies, there is a bargain shoe store on our walk! See Rome by Double Decker Bus, hop on, hop off as you like! Amount of time is up to you, it’s a day pass! Vatican Tour, 4 hours long. Includes private guide, tickets and reservations! Tour the Colesseum and Ancient City, includes guide and tickets! Walking Tour/Mysteries of Rome Evening Tour, 3 hours long. Entrances, antipasti samples and wine included. Sights include: Squares and Fountains, Optical Illusions, Underground Rome, Jewish Ghetto, Tiber Island. This is all done with a wonderful and very experienced private guide. Rome by Night Tour! On this two hour adventure your chauffeur will drive you to magical views of the Eternal City of Love. Bring your camera! One day I will take you to my favorite gelato shop so we can eat the best ice-cream in the world! We will visit by foot the amazing 17th Century Monastery that has been converted to a luxury hotel. From there we will walk atop one of Rome’s 7 famous hills to view the City of Eternal Love. Takes two hours. We will visit by foot the grave of the famous English poet, John Keats. In this neighborhood, only 15 minutes from the Rippa Hotel, we’ll also visit a huge market and behold an ancient pyramid built as a tomb. There will be a unique Surprise along the way! 2-3 hours. On Sunday, the day before you depart Rome, we will go treasure hunting in Rome’s famous flea market that takes place on Sundays only. 2-3 hours. Included in your tour are five dinners, and one of them will be rare: We will eat in the home of an Italian! AND, if I can book her, we will be entertained by the beautiful and very talented Rosa Canova, a loving person and a great singer. She is so funny you’ll want to take her home to the USA with you! Please be aware that anything not noted as “included” is up to you. I highly advise that you get travel insurance. A check of $700 must reach me by March 10th. This is non-refundable unless I chancel the tour. I need at least 5 people to commit to this tour, My Great Adventure to Rome, to make it worth my time and energy. Again, the tour is limited to 7 people. I will be happy to answer any questions you might have. Please let me know today or in the coming days, if you plan to be part of this tour. It’s truly first come, first served. This might be the ONLY time I will ever offer this opportunity so please consider it carefully. I will do all that is possible to make certain you have the experiences of a lifetime! Send check for $700 to: Jerry Ellis, 1714 Smith Gap Road NW, Fort Payne, Alabama 35968.
