Gramer Noujoan Hindu Musolman..(Shah Abdul Karim) Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) in association with Asian Paints, IRCON and Marico Bangladesh organised an Evening of Folk Music by Pally Baul Samaj Unnayan Sangstha (PBSUS), at 6:30 PM on August 22, 2014 at the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre, House No. 35, Road No. 24, Gulshan-1, Dhaka. Mr. M.H. Nayan is a folk and baul singer. He has started his career in 1980 at Faridpur district’s Silpokhala Academy. In 1991, he trained on folk songs from Nazrul Academy of Dhaka. In 1996 he started performing in Bangladesh Television. He is an A Grade singer in BTV. He has released five audio CD albums. As a national delegate he has performed folk & baul songs in China, Japan, and South Korea. He is also the General Secretary Pally Baul Samaj Unnayan Sangstha. Pally Baul Samaj Unnayan Sangstha (PBSUS) was established in 1998. Later in 2001, the organization got registration from the Social Welfare Department. Its goal is to create awareness about folk music, composer and poets, which are on the verge of extinction, and to train the folk singers and musicians. They also take initiative to restore the traditional folk culture of late artists, and to collect, preserve, reproduce and present to the community those songs which were once sung during religious festivals, plantation, rice husking, boat racing, wedding ceremony etc). The organization also makes efforts to restore the traditional musical instruments like Dhol, Ektara, Dotara, Khanjani, Sarinda, Flute, Drum, Khomok etc.), and use them in their folk music performances. It also organizes Baul Mela, Kabi Gaan, Jari Gaan, Pala Gaan, special day programmes (like celebration of 1st Baisakh), seminars etc. ****
