Detectives continue to investigate Sheffield fatal shooting Detectives investigating the shooting in Sheffield City Centre last night believe the incident may have been a targeted attack. At around 10.15pm last night (Sunday, 21 December), two men in a silver Ford Mondeo were shot at from the passenger side while the vehicle was stationary on Derek Dooley way at the traffic lights just before the parkway. The passenger, 22-years-old, suffered fatal injuries. The driver, 27-years-old, sustained serious injuries and is currently in hospital in a stable condition, DCI Phil Etheridge, who is leading the investigation, said: “From the information we currently have we believe there is a possibility this was a targeted attack against the two victims, however it is too early in the investigation to confirm at this stage. “Enquiries are ongoing at this time and officers will remain in the area today to provide reassurance to people living in and visiting Sheffield. “I’d like to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or anyone who has information, to please come forward and contact police.” Formal identification and a post-mortem examination is yet to take place.
