Deuteronomy 34:1 - And Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo , to the top of Pisgah , which is opposite Jericho , and the LORD showed him all the land of Gilead, unto Dan We took the above photo on our last trip to Jordan during the winter . It was really cold and the winds were strong enough to play in the ground . Jordan is now the formerly Amon ( U.S. ) Moab ( center) and Edom ( South ) . Unfortunately the weather was overcast and a snow falling very thin when the photo was taken, so we can not see the green fields of the Jordan Valley and the region . Deuteronomy 34 tells one of the most striking images of this book , the death and burial of Moses atop Mount Nebo . This site marked the border with Canaan and hence the great prophet Moses could see the Promised Land but was not permitted to enter it , then dying out of the land of promise . We know , however, that Moses crossed that border but not to your own legs or on its own merit . I am not referring to the earthly Canaan but True spiritual Canaan , where all saved by Jesus inhabit . The story of Moses on Mount Nebo serves us as a metaphor to describe the limits of our earthly life and continued reliance on God. Since he began this journey in the wilderness toward Canaan, Moses had said to the Lord : " If thou go not with us, do not send us up from here " in response to the statement that the Lord had said before : "Will you to my presence give you rest . " Deuteronomy 33:14-15 . In our spiritual journey , the Lord not only sustains and guides us on the trip can often be turbulent and full of dangers , but also encourages us taking the often mountainous peaks where by far we have a taste of what we expected . And finally He assures us that , despite being big chasm that separates us from Him , He is powerful enough to transport us from this world to that which is the kingdom of the Son of his love . " Giving thanks unto the Father, who made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who delivered us from the power of darkness , and hath translated us into the kingdom of His beloved Son . " Colossians 1:12-13
