The mission of DAD is to create opportunities for low income youth to play a sport and build athletic and academic skills. Through our vision, DAD will provide regular sports training, valuable coaching, and opportunities to play in tournaments and attend larger State and National sports camps. DAD will also work together with the players and their families to expose them to scouting opportunities that otherwise may not be available to them. DAD is invested in each player’s educational and lifetime developmental achievement. By providing tutoring, mentorship, team building activities, career counseling and other support as needed, we can help to remove any barriers to academic success. Also, as you may know, playing a sport teaches many skills that are useful in the game of life such as perseverance, team work, and respect as well as achieving a goal and handling defeat with grace. We want young players to have support to achieve positive short term and long term goals for themselves. With your financial support, the DAD Foundation will create possibilities for youth to strengthen their physical and cognitive abilities at a time in their lives when positive influences in their overall development are important. In the northern Virginia area at least 12% of the population is in “economic distress” according to a study done by the University of Virginia in May of this year. Many kids in areas such as Woodbridge, Dale City and Manassas cannot afford to play on a travel sports team that can cost each player over $1,000 per season. We believe that all youth should have the opportunity to play a sport, achieve in school and learn healthy life skills in the process, regardless of economic background. We hope you will contribute to this organization and see that DAD is different from other organizations because we want kids to achieve beyond their victories on the field and find success in all areas of their life. Once players graduate into college level sports, they will be encouraged to return and mentor, tutor or coach younger players, as the player becomes the teacher and gives back to his or her community.
