Development Scholarships for Nigerian Students and Developing Countries in Czech Republic, 2014/15 The Faculty of Social Sciences at Charles University through the support of the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport offers five partial scholarships for developing countries. Applications for these scholarships are open to all students from developing countries and/or countries going through a process of political and economic transition. Students who are applying for study in one of Bachelor’s studies or Master’s studies programmes at Faculty of Social Sciences from academic year 2014/15 can apply. The deadline for scholarship applications is 30th April 2014. UNESCO/Japan Young Researchers’ Fellowships Programme for Developing Countries, 2014 Each year, the Japanese Funds-in-Trust for the capacity-building of Human Resources which was established by the Government of Japan funds offers UNESCO/Japan young researchers’ fellowships for developing countries. Priority attention will be given to women candidatures, candidates from least developed countries (LDCs) and African researchers. 20 fellowships are awarded to pursue research in four areas of development of particular interest to UNESCO. Selected students will be awarded a fellowship of US$6,000 to US$10,000 for a minimum period of 3 months and a maximum of 9 months. The application deadline is 30th August 2013. TWAS-USM Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme for Developing Countries, 2014 TWAS-USM offers postdoctoral fellowship to pursue advanced research in the natural sciences at Universiti Sains Malaysia. Fellowships are offered for a minimum period of twelve (12) months to a maximum period of three years and are awarded to young scientists from developing countries. USM will provide a standard monthly allowance which should be used to cover living costs, such as accommodation and food. The application deadline is 15 September of each year. TWAS-CSIR Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme for Developing Countries in India, 2014 TWAS-CSIR offers postdoctoral fellowship programme for developing countries in the field of science and technology. These fellowships are tenable in CSIR research laboratories and institutes in India for a minimum period of six months to a maximum period of twelve months. The CSIR will provide a monthly stipend to cover living costs, food and health insurance. The monthly stipend will not be convertible into foreign currency. In addition, Fellowship awardees are entitled to subsidized accommodation. The application deadline is 31 August of each year. MMMF Grant for Women of Developing Countries in South Africa, 2014 Margaret McNamara Memorial Fund is offering grant for women of developing countries in South Africa. Applicant must be women and enrolled at the University of Pretoria, the University of Cape Town, the University of Stellenbosch or the University of Witwatersrand. After the completion of the program applicants must return to their home countries. Applicants must be in financial need and must have good academic performance. MMMF awards grants of approximately US$4,000 each. The deadline for applications is August 14, 2013. TWAS-icipe Fellowships for Visiting Scholars from Developing Countries in Kenya, 2014 The International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe), Nairobi, Kenya and TWAS offer fellowship for visiting scholars from developing countries in Kenya. Fellowship is provided in the field of natural sciences. Fellowship is available for pursuing advanced research in natural sciences. Fellowship is offered for a minimum period of one month to a maximum period of three months. The application deadline is 15 September of each year. CAS Fellowship for Postdoctoral and Visiting Scholars from Developing Countries in China, 2013 Bureau of International Cooperation Chinese Academy of Sciences is offering CAS fellowship for postdoctoral and visiting scholars from Developing Countries to pursue research programme (Short-term Visiting and Postdoctoral fellowship) at CAS-affiliated research institutions (CAS institutes; USTC and UCAS). Proficiency in English and Chinese are required. The deadline for applications is 15 September AERC-World Bank African Women Fellows – 2013 Call for Active PhD Candidates in Africa AERC-World Bank offers Robert S. McNamara Fellowships Program for candidates currently enrolled in a PhD program that is located outside their home country and in a member country of the World Bank. The students of developing countries can apply for these fellowships. Up to US$25,000 for a 5-10 month period between December 2013 and November 2014 for travel and conduct PhD studies / research are awarded. The application deadline is July 31, 2013. PATHWAYS Leadership for Progress Awards for Developing Countries in Kenya, 2013 PATHWAYS Leadership for Progress is an international leadership training program which invites applications for annual awards for developing countries to help applicants in moving their projects forward and assists them with university fees. Along with participation in this program, applicants can also apply for fee assistance to pursue undergraduate degree at University of Nairobi or Kenyatta University in Kenya up to 2 semesters per year contingent upon satisfactory progress each year. Priority will be given to students from disadvantaged groups such as AIDS orphans and girls. Applications should be submitted by July 30, 2013.
