Diabetes and Glutathione How does Diabetes and Glutathione relate to and affect one another? Diabetics have high levels of oxidative stress, which basically means too many free radicals and not enough antioxidants to neutralize them. Diabetics also have low levels of intracellular glutathione (GSH). The high levels of oxidative stress and the low glutathione (GSH) levels further complicates the diabetic state which leads to even higher levels of oxidative stress and even lower levels of GSH. It would be beneficial for anyone suffering from Diabetes to increase their antioxidant supplementation. Glutathione, being the master antioxidant, would naturally be the best choice. Furthermore, inflammation leads to and contributes to insulin resistance. Glutathione, on top of being the most potent antioxidant, is also a powerful ant-inflammatory.
