Diane Krishon and Sara Marhenke are both fluent Spanish speakers and naturalists with leadership experience who have lived in Spanish-speaking countries. Sara and Diane are a proven team, co-leading Costa Rica trips for teens in June of 2013 and 2014. Both are active outdoorswomen and love to have fun! Both have current CPR/First Aid certifications. Diane (right) received a BS in Wildlife Biology from University of Georgia and an MS in Environmental Education from West Virginia University. She has done mammal research off the Georgia coast, bat research in New Mexico for the Forest Service, and currently teaches wildlife biology at Wando High School. She is also certified in river and coastal kayaking and works part time for Nature Adventures Outfitters as an excellent guide. In addition, Diane lived in Costa Rica as a young child, grew up in Mexico City, and has travel experience, both personal and leading trips, in Honduras, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Mexico. Sara (left) works seasonally as a Naturalist Guide for Barrier Island Eco Tours, leading groups on dolphin-viewing and beach-combing tours to Capers Island. Sara is a SC Certified Master Naturalist and wildlife photographer. From 2007 to early 2013 Sara lived in Costa Rica an average of 10 months per year, doing a variety of work including managing volunteers at a wildlife refuge, caring for birds in an endangered macaw reintroduction program, and teaching English at a bilingual elementary school. Before moving to Costa Rica, Sara was Environmental Education Coordinator for Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission for 6 years.
