Diane Young by Vampire Weekend (A review) Diane Young was the - TopicsExpress

Diane Young by Vampire Weekend (A review) Diane Young was the third song I heard from the band (after oxford comma and step) and while the first listen did enthuse me, the second blew me away. One of those tracks which sound just perfect even without (initially) getting the lyrical part of it. A very pop sounding rock record to which you can dance to. Lyrically it talks about death and while death is no laughing matter, it seems in this case at least you can dance to it. The lyrics are ingenious with some sardonic humorism (check the Kennedy reference) and real-life factuality. And the coup de grace (literally and figuratively), is the title of the song (it took me about 20 listens to get it, so take your time). Arguably the best song I have heard this year, from this year. And definitely RIGHT ON TIME….. youtube/watch?v=mX46e4GtlXM
