Did Russ Fulcher really endorse John T. Bujak for Governor of Idaho? PLEASE SHARE! “I support the Idaho Republican Party platform and other elected officials and candidates that do as well,” are the first words in a letter written by Russ Fulcher who narrowly lost his primary election bid to Butch Otter in the Idaho May Primary. Later in his letter, Russ writes, “I communicate this to point out that Idahoans have a choice in November - vote for the candidates that support republican principles of less government and regulation, or face the ramifications of economic and social policies that have had disastrous results in democrat-controlled areas of our nation. And just because someone claims to be republican doesnt mean that they adhere to the principles as espoused in the party platform. I encourage Idahoans to ask all candidates what they believe and why.” The last paragraph of his letter reads, “Principled republican leaders will lead using the values that make our state great. I support the republican principled nominees that believe in our platform and ask like-minded Idahoans to do the same.” Russ doesn’t mention life-long Republican John T. Bujak in his letter – who is running as a Libertarian in the race for Idaho Governor, but those three major statements indicate that he might, in fact, support his candidacy. After all, Butch Otter refused to sign the Candidate Oath required by the state Republican Party for all “Republican” candidates. His position on the issues clearly shows that he does not support the Republican Party Platform – a document drafted and accepted by the delegates at the state convention two years ago. The platform that Butch follows is apparently one written by the “Otter Party,” because it doesn’t reflect the values of Republicans throughout the state of Idaho. John Bujak’s positions on the issues mirror the beliefs of Idaho Republicans in their platform, which makes him more “Republican” than the man running for a third term as our governor. As Russ says, “just because someone claims to be republican doesnt mean that they adhere to the principles as espoused in the party platform.” Im reading between the lines, and am going to vote for John T. Bujak for governor. I encourage all of my Republican friends to do the same.
