Did Suzuki get it wrong? Yes he sure did. Memorization has nearly nothing to do with ear training, and repetition-drill-rote-technical training has held back two generations of violinists. The OConnor Method is on the right side of history in music education, the Suzuki Method is not. The crime of it is that Suzuki doubled down on it with children of extremely tender years.
