Did You Know: On this day (May 31) in 1859 the famous clock tower Big Ben went into operation in London. The clocks 13-ton bell was dragged through the streets of London, by a team of 16 horses, en route to being installed in the tower, according to HISTORY. While the entire structure is commonly referred to as Big Ben by some, originally the name was reserved for the bell alone. The tower is the Elizabeth Tower.
