Did a show last night and one of those event company roadies asked about my performance fee. The following conversation that took place: Dude: Buat lawak dalam Bahso Inggeris? Brape bang dapat? RM800? Me: Tak. Dude: RM500? Me: (revealing my fee) Dude: *acts out a mini heart attack* Then, duty called, the Dude left. I wanted to tell him that I too started off as one of those event guys - carried speakers up flights of stairs, pushed trollies into cargo elevators, taped down cables on carpeted floors, sat on the back of 1-tonnes trucks, slept beneath the console table when a party was going on, had breakfast at 3.30am, etc. I wanted to tell the Dude that with a little bit of effort, ambition and hard work can bring anyone out of any rut. Hard work is the one talent that everybody has and its really up to the person to discover this innate talent.
