Did you hear about Kevin Durant’s new contract with Nike? $300 million over 10 years. Thats $30 million a year, and that’s his side job. His main job is playing basketball for The Oklahoma City Thunder, but they only pay him $21 million a year. Only $21 million a year. Jay Z’s Rock Nation Sports negotiated the deal and that doubles the happy for me. To see Jay Z do mega-deals like KD’s & baseball’s Robinson Cano, who got a 10 year, $240 million deal in Seattle, is awesome to watch. While black athletes have made tremendous contributions to their respective sport, rarely has it been black faces sitting across from management, representing them at contract time. As for KD, all I can say is that it couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. For those of you who don’t follow sports or dollars, you can follow character.
