Did you know? According to the teachings of the Native American Church the peyote cactus is a holy vegetable, and consuming it means communing with the Creator. Since peyote (which contains mescaline, a psychoactive drug) is illegal in the US, federal law grants members of the faith a legal exception allowing them to use the cactus for religious purposes (although individual states retain the right to restrict peyote use)
