Did you know Carnegie Science Center new Planetarium Director, Dr. Brendan Mullan was among the 17 selected from around the world to be named 2013 National Geographic Emerging Explorer! National Geographics Emerging Explorers Program recognizes and supports uniquely gifted and inspiring adventurers, scientists and innovators who are at the forefront of discovery, adventure and global problem-solving while still early in their careers. Lucky for us, Dr. Mullan is giving a 5 Minutes of Science talk at our Stargazing event this Thursday. What an honor to have such a learned and wise guest speaker! The night also includes trance music by DETOUR, video art display from Ben Tabas, astrophotography installations by Bill Snyder, performance poetry by actor Randy Kovitz, screening of Dan Handley film Undaunted: The Forgotten Giants of the Allegheny Observatory, and guided solar exploration with the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh.
