Did you know Erau Kota Raja (2015), which was released on 8 January 2015, was filmed at Tenggarong, Kutai Kartanegara, East Borneo? Erau Kota Raja (2015) is set in one of Indonesia’s National Tourism Events, Erau Festival where journalist Kirana (Nadine Chandrawinata) from Jakarta falls in love with her guide, Reza (Denny Sumargo). Erau Festival is held biennially every September to showcase and celebrate Kutai Kartanegara’s arts, culture, legends and traditions. Aside from presenting one of Indonesia’s less renowned ethnicities – Dayak’s culture, Erau Kota Raja (2015) also introduces ingenuous issues concerning the conservation of local culture. Erau Kota Raja (2015) reminds viewers that there are so much more to Indonesia than Javanese and Balinese culture – there are hundreds of unexplored ethnicities in the country reflecting the nation’s motto ‘Unity in Diversity’.
