Did you know? Strange but true . . . A genuine oddity of the DCI Championship Finals is that, for the 1972-1982 championship, the corps that took sixth place at finals did not take sixth place at prelims except in 1977 and 1980. Here are the sixth-place finishers at finals during that span, along with their prelims finish: 1972 -- Troopers, seventh; 1973 -- Anaheim Kingsmen, seventh; Kilties, fourth; 1975 -- Oakland Crusaders, fourth; 1976 Bridgemen, eighth; 1977 -- Madison Scouts took sixth at both prelims and finals; 1978 -- Spirit of Atlanta, eighth; 1979 -- Bridgemen, seventh; 1980 -- Madison took sixth at both prelims and finals; 1981 -- Bridgemen, fifth; 1982 -- 27th Lancers, seventh.
