Did you know ... The forecast from The Farmers Almanac for the past winter’s temperatures was nearly perfect? They were correct in 16 of the 16 regions. Every region east of the line from the Dakotas to Texas was colder than the previous winter, while every region west of that line, except for the Desert Southwest, was warmer. However, their snowfall forecast was not as accurate; for example, they did not forecast the above-normal snowfall in parts of New England, but they did predict four snowy periods. Their winter precipitation forecast was correct. Drought, though still an issue, declined from its peak in August 2012.
