Did you know that September is National Preparedness Month? Keep checking back with Anaheim PD on Facebook and Twitter (@AnaheimPD) for continued tips on planning and being prepared for emergencies. #NPM 1) Before an Emergency • Take the time to figure out the non-emergency telephone number to your local police dispatch center and post it near your phone. • Familiarize yourself with different scenarios for when to utilize 9-1-1 and when to utilize the non-emergency number. • Make sure your children know your home address and are aware of how and when to use 9-1-1. An emergency is any situation that requires immediate response from the police, fire department or ambulance. Examples include: a crime in progress, a fire, a car crash with possible injury, or a medical emergency where someone is unconscious, or not breathing. Although we emphasize on making sure to dial the appropriate number when police are needed, we are also aware that you may be unsure of whether your particular situation is an emergency. Remember that if in doubt as to whether the situation is a true emergency, always dial 9-1-1.
