Did you know that a Scotsman owned and ran the Belmont Estate plantation in the 1800s? This blog post by Stephen Mullen gives a brief insight into the Scottish history of the estate, owned by Robert Houston in the parish of St Patrick. There is even a nod to the Dunfermline area of St. Andrews, which was named after the Scottish town.
