Did you know that starting the morning off with God is the key to strength and success in your day? MORNING OFFERING OCTOBER 24, 2014 When we go before the Blessed Sacrament, let us open our heart; our good God will open His. We shall go to Him; He will come to us; the one to ask, the other to receive. It will be like a breath from one to the other. — St. John Vianney MEDITATION OF THE DAY The Law found more than it lost when Christ said, ‘Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven’ (Matthew 5:44-45). This most important commandment summarizes in a word the universal discipline of patience, since it does not allow us to do evil even to people who deserve it. — Tertullian , p. 104) SAINT OF THE DAY St. Anthony Mary Claret Anthony was born in Spain in the year 1807. He first took up his fathers trade of weaving, however, soon decided that he would like to become a priest, and began studying for the priesthood. Anthony desired to become a Jesuit, but illness prevented him from joining the order, leading him to serve as a secular priest. In 1849 he founded the Missionary Sons of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, known today as the Claretians. Anthony participated in the first Vatican Council. He died in a Cistercian Monestary in Southern France in 1870. During his life, Anthony had the gift of prophesy and performed many miracles. St. Anthony Marie Clarets feast day is celebrated on October 24th MORNING OFFERING PRAYERS O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer you my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of this day for all the intentions of your Sacred Heart, in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, for the salvation of souls, the reparation of sins, the reunion of all Christians, and in particular for the intentions of the Holy Father this month. Amen. PRAYER TO ST. MICHAEL, THE ARCHANGEL St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen. PSALM 19:14 PRAYER Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer. Amen. YOU MAKE IT A GOOD DAY ST. VITUS FAMILY!
