Did you know that the UK government is handing out hundreds of millions of pounds of our taxpayers’ money to some of the world’s richest food companies? They’re calling this giveaway the ‘New Alliance for Food Security and Nutrition’ and they’re taking the money directly out of the overseas aid budget. But shockingly the objective of this scheme is to open up African agriculture to multinational companies such as Monsanto and Unilever. Rather than solving the food crisis, African farmers’ groups say the New Alliance will destroy livelihoods, fuel poverty and increase hunger. Join the fight to take back control of the food system and help us confront the government for its abuse of the UK aid budget. We want democratic production of food, not more corporate control.
