Did you know the term idiopathic” when referring to scoliosis, means the cause is unknown. Although we do not know for sure what causes the majority of scoliosis cases (80 to 85 percent), we do know it tends to run in families. The term “congenital scoliosis” means that you are born with the condition. Congenital scoliosis starts as the spine forms before birth.
