Did you see the BBBC1 prog last night? Britain’s favourite supermarket foods? Presented by Cheryl Healey. It split 6th form students in Reading into 2 groups and gave them cognitive tests. One group then had a blueberry smoothie the other had a banana smoothie. It is meant to take four hours for the flavinoid effect to work so 4 hours later they took a similar test. The blueberry group scored 11% higher in the later test. The banana group saw no improvement. Experiment based on the work of Jeremy Spencer at Reading University into ways to boost brain power. The programme actually said that it gave 200gramms of fruit to each student and that it would work if that fruit had been frozen or pureed, and that the results meant that eating blueberries could make the difference between passing and failing exams.
