Dig this: The Opal Card currently being phased in - which will soon replace the current paper tickets for all public transport in NSW - records every trip you make, and your name and address. That data can be obtained WITHOUT A WARRANT by the police, the ATO and other authorities. Not just that, but since no data is really secure, anyone illegally obtaining such information can use it to plot your movements and learn your routine, as well as where you live.
