Dilemma in the Evans Garage: My method of transportation today - TopicsExpress

Dilemma in the Evans Garage: My method of transportation today feels more like a leap of faith than anything else. This morning, I experience a brief moment of pride as all three sons are loaded in a timely manner in the car - shoes, backpacks and all - only to find that my battery is dead. The neighborhood is tranquil and I hate to wake my neighbors, but I can see a couple houses down that they are up, like the Evans, and cars are warming in the drive. So I venture over and ask for help. They dont know me. But the gentleman gracefully drives over to give my car a jump. Yet another mountain: my transmission wont let me shift into neutral to back out and I am parked in a manner that wont allow another car into my garage. Yep. I and my children are officially stuck in my garage on a morning that I need to be in class for a test after I drop my kiddos off for school. The nice gentleman has to get to work and so he texts his brother - who also has no clue who I am - but yet leaves his home to come and rescue us. By this time, Im considering just canceling the day - why not stay home with my boys, curl up in front of the TV and eat some popcorn before 8 a.m.? Well, Jose, the brother of my two-door-down neighbor teaches me the unlocking component to my transmission - who knew? And pushes my car out of the garage and jumps starts it. Off we go....and then I end up with a flat after dropping off my children and missing my test. Yep - its that kind of Monday. In an odd way - Im so thankful that I live in an area where neighbors not only set aside time, they call in family members to help a stranger in need. We are blessed.
