> Diplo, David Guetta & More Tapped For Evolution of 808 & Dance Music Documentary As the dance music scene continues its ascent to the top, it’s not surprising that documentaries detailing its success and evolution become increasingly popular. One such documentary is 808. Directed by Alexander Dunn, the full length feature will seek to document the impact of the programmable drum machine called the Roland TR-808 had on the evolution of House and Hip-Hop. 808 will feature appearances from a wide array of popular and successful hip hop and house artists, such as Arthur Baker, Pharrell, David Guetta, Phil Collins, Lil Jon, Afrika Bambaataa, Norman Cook (Fatboy Slim), Rick Rubin, Diplo, Goldie and more. Alexander came out with the following statement: “Making a documentary about a drum machine, a piece of electronic equipment, is an interesting challenge. It has no voice of its own, so as a protagonist, it’s rather difficult to mold a story around. 808 has really been a journey of discovery for me. One that led myself and the team to meet over 50 musicians and artists from all around the world, hearing their personal stories about the 808 and the music they created using its iconic sounds. Those artists and musicians are the real protagonists of the film and the 808, in the hands of our contributors, would change music forever.”
