Directors: Jamie & Valerie Fambrough Musical Director: Leanne Kinney Individual auditions for the Holly Theatre’s production of Spamalot will be held on Thursday April 3rd and Friday, April 4th from 6 to 9pm, and on Saturday, April 5th from 9am to 12pm. Callbacks will be on Sunday, April 6th from 1 to 4pm. You do not need to schedule a time, simply show up. If you cannot make it to any of these times, please email the directors at jamiefambrough@gmail or [email protected] to set up an alternate time for your audition. Please bring a photo and actor’s resume, if available. Be prepared to sing 16 bars of a song that showcases your voice. An accompanist and CD player will be provided. You will also be asked to briefly read from the script. There will also be a group movement audition, so be prepared to move a little. Rehearsals will start shortly after auditions, and typically run a Monday-Wednesday-Saturday schedule. Performances are July 11th through July 27th, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, and Sundays at 2pm. The place: England. The year: 932 AD. Lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL, SPAMALOT retells the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, and features a bevy of beautiful show girls, not to mention cows, killer rabbits, and French people. Did we mention the bevy of beautiful show girls? The 2005 Broadway production won three Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and received 14 Tony Award nominations. ROLES AVAILIBLE (All age ranges are approximate.) KING ARTHUR (40s-60s) – The King of England who sets out on a quest to form the Knights of the Roundtable and find the Holy Grail. SIR ROBIN (20s-40s) – A Knight of the Roundtable. Ironically called ‘Sir Robin the Brave’ though he couldn’t be more cowardly. Joins the knights for the singing and dancing. SIR LANCELOT (20s-40s) – A Knight of the Roundtable. He is fearless to a bloody fault, but through a twist of fate does discover his ‘softer side.’ PATSY (30s-50s) – King Arthur’s horse and servant. Underappreciated but always longing for King Arthur’s approval. SIR GALAHAD (20s-40s) – A Knight of the Roundtable. Begins as Dennis, a lower class mud gatherer who becomes knighted and transforms into the dashing Sir Galahad. SIR BEDEVERE (20s-40s) – A Knight of the Roundtable. An inept scholar. THE LADY OF THE LAKE (20s-40s) – A Diva. Strong, Beautiful, possesses mystical powers. The following roles will be split up among the Ensemble: HISTORIAN – A tweedy academic. GALAHAD’S MOTHER – A shrill peasant woman. PRINCE HERBERT – The hopeful and frilly prince who loves to sing and pines for his love atop a tower. PRINCE HERBERT’S FATHER – A wealthy, brutish Yorkshireman at odds with his sensitive son. NOT DEAD FRED – A sickly little fellow who, despite others’ beliefs, claims he is “not yet dead.” FRENCH TAUNTER – An arrogant, condescending, over-the-top Frenchman THE KNIGHT OF NI – An absurd, cartoonish leader of a peculiar group of knights. TIM THE ENCHANTER – A ghostly being with a Scottish accent. BROTHER MAYNARD – A long-winded monk. CONCORDE – Sir Lancelot’s horse and servant. MAYOR – A jolly red-faced man who advertises the merits of his home town. MUD CASTLE GUARD x 2 – Two guards overly concerned with the logic of bird migration patterns. USELESS GUARD x 2 – Two guards completely unable to do their job. SIR-NOT-APPEARING-IN-THIS-SHOW – A knight who does not appear in this show. SIR BORS – A Knight of the Roundtable who appears just in time to go get himself killed. ROBIN’S MINSTRELS – Several musicians who follow Sir Robin around and sing of his adventures. Various peasants, villagers, monks, Frenchmen, and knights.
