Disclaimer 01: The following post was -not- created to start flame wars or arguments. I simply wanted to throw out a topic for discussion and see what other players and LARP organizers may think and how things are done in other games. Much like a lot, if not all of you, I have been playing in live games for a very long time. In my case, I was introduced to LARPs in 1998, During my years of playing various games, I have discovers a couple of things which persist in many games which I found upsetting and not necessary. So I would like to ask - what are your LARP pet peeves? Disclaimer 02: I realize that some of you wont agree with me to varying degrees and/or would like to defend something I may find irritating. That is not an issue whatsoever. Please feel free to state your opinion and explain why something I find problematic is not really an issue in your game or to you personally. I wont argue or be offended. I will, however, offer counter-points and counter-arguments but only if you are OK with it as well and mention so in your comments :) Disclaimer 03: I wont go into details as to why I find a particular thing less than desirable, unless you ask me to and will not mind me stating my opinion, which may be different from yuors. So, thigns which I find most problematic in LARPs or what dissuades me from joining a game when I may be looking for one (in no particular order): 1. Games which allow simultaneous play of more than 1 character at a time and Alts or alternative player characters in general. 2. Mandatory NPC shifts. 3. What do I see? LARPS - Or games in which little to no emphasis is placed on PC & NPC costuming and props, resulting in lengthy encounter descriptions by the Game Marshalls / ST Crew/ etc. Especially games where colored sashes/bandannas or descriptive badges are almost exclusively used in lieu of NPC costumes. What about you?
