Disharmony at MLC Mrs Careys resignation from MLC School is a huge loss for her colleagues, students and their families (Discord after Mrs Carey exits the music department she made famous, October 19-20). Brilliant, inspiring, inclusive, collaborative and passionate, she has demonstrated all the best that good leadership can offer. The circumstances around her resignation raise serious questions about what has driven her to leave the school she loved so well without a proper goodbye. Unfortunately, her departure appears a symptom of a much greater malaise at MLC since Barbara Stones retirement. As a parent, I have despaired as key staff resign and optimism and enthusiasm within the school community wanes. It is time for action to prevent further haemorrhaging of such gifted teachers. Otherwise the excellent education we have come to expect for girls at MLC will be the casualty. Such a shame. Sarah Elliott Haberfield
