Dismembered Alive----WRITE AND ASK FOR MAXIMUM SENTENCE- On the 28 of June, an elephant from Ivory Coast was shot at Sanigninikö, in the Wildlife Reserve of Kankan, which aroused the indignation of the authorities as the animal was monitored by agents of Environment since his arrival in Guinea. A poacher chased him for several kilometers and the poor elephant finally collapsed after being shot several times. Dying, he was dismembered alive. It was a horrible massacre. At the request of the Ministry of Environment, the GALF project joined an intervention. In Thursday night at 2am, the poacher, Sekou DOUMBOUYA, was arrested by the Gendarmerie in Boula. Height of cruelty, people took pictures of the poacher massacring the animal, pictures attached. Many people took meat and ivory. Two other accomplices were identified including Yamori Traoré, who can be seen cutting the tail on these pictures. This video of the animal was made before slaughter. This morning, after being interrogated on PV, he was brought to the Court of Kankan, then put in jail until his trial. The Prosecutor of the Republic of Kankan, Abdoulaye Sampou, is in charge of the case. His trial will take place next Wednesday. According to Articles 161, 163 and 164 of the Guinean Wildfe Act, the poacher risks 6 months to 1 year in prison for killing a fully protected species and illegal hunting in a protected area. Next Wednesday, authorities of the Environment, GALF team, jurists and lawyers, we will all fight together so the author of this massacre is severely punished. There are fewer than 200 elephants in Guinea. Across Africa, these magnificent creatures are massively slaughtered for ivory trafficking.
