District Detroit Resident Career Opportunity Expo Dear Community Leader: The District Detroit is a transformative project for Detroit that will include a new arena and events center, businesses, offices, parks and residences. All in a 50-block area of five neighborhoods where people will live, work and play. The project will connect Downtown to Midtown and create an urban area that is walkable, vibrant and full of life for residents and visitors to enjoy. Olympia Development plans to have Detroit residents fill 51 percent of the construction jobs related to the new arena and mixed-use development. Detroiters stand to gain more than $100 million in job income from construction of the arena alone. We have paired with the Detroit Employment Solutions Corporation to provide training, education and career development resources to Detroit residents for the construction and construction-related positions that will need to be filled. There is a great need for skilled laborers, but we are also seeking residents who are looking for a career path or may need training and education support to prepare for these opportunities. You can help us spread the word to Detroit residents about the Career Opportunity Expo we are holding at Cobo Center on October 28 from 10a.m.-7p.m. by utilizing this community engagement toolkit to inform your community.
