Divisiveness----- A great rift exists on this, the Warm Springs Reservation..... there are way too many angry desperate people and then there are those self righteous ones who say do not blame and respect and honor the minority elected leadership...... in one group, the angry people..... A loss of hope, no income, no jobs available.... watching the few who work be able to survive while their families endure hardships not seen here in decades.... anger from the loss of support that is no longer there... these people did not cause that yet they are the ones asked to suffer the most.... basic needs are chosen... eat or have electricity..... buy clothes or buy food.... bills pile up and now some are losing homes..... what do they do? Smile and jump for joy when the leadership chooses to remove yet another service..... be united with those fortunate enough to have a job? Grow up and just be happy with being alive? Of course the people are angry.... asking the question of When are we going to be heard? Then there is the other side, people who are fortunate enough to have job.... supporters of a leadership that is doing all it can to make the organization survive.... a service organization that depends on revenue.. profits from enterprises to continue to operate.... and that now is the focus of the efforts to make the Tribes survive.... by cutting service to the 70 percent plus unemployed.... and some will smugly say to the unfortunate.... accept your fate and be happy do not blame the leadership while they enjoy no cuts in income, travel and per diems..... buying new cars and having the luxary of disposable income... and the ones they serve are suffering like never before in over 30 years....... do not point fingers and be part of the solution what does that even mean? In order to unify all must bear the burden of the recession upon us.... the employees are asked to reduce their incomes by 10% and now a furlough over the holidays.... needed relief upon a reduced revenue for ioperations yes.... but now a Reduction in Forces where 20 or so employees are cut? And a reduction in the budget by over 10 million dollars.... yet we are building a school at a cost over 10 million we dont have, allowing enterprises to under perform, enterprises to take resrves from performing enterprises to stay in the black and a deal with a predatory company that is taking over half the capital of our timber resources? Anger is justified, it is a reaction of a revolution of true change.... no 8 point plans or modification of enterprises to get one or two more people employed while reducing revenues for those enterprises.... no grandiose plans to get dome outside investor rich while we get the crumbs at the cost of our land..... the way to unify the people is quite simple.... Give the voice back to the people by bringing back the referendum vote, then all will have a stake in the decision paradigm and have no one to blame but ownership.... inclusion and once more become a holistic community rather than an idle audience watching 11 make major decisions for 5000....... Referendum vote for the people by the people...... true democracy and the way to unify an angry population.... empty words do not work... action must be taken or a true revolution make take place and the population will use the merits of the constitution and by-laws and a recall vote looms in the near future...... Give the voice and ownership back where it belongs.... The people......
